Bio: A Baby Scoop Era Adoptee, born on a California winter morning in 1965. It was a closed, private adoption. I was the middle child raised with two adopted (not related) siblings. My adoptive parents were abusive and narcissistic. I have been in a complex and difficult reunion with my birth parents since 1989. My greatest accomplishment is being a mom to two beautiful daughters. My husband of nearly 25 years and I enjoy the peace, solitude and creative inspiration of the Mojave Desert, where 10 years ago we happened upon a neglected, abandoned homestead cabin and have rehabbed it and made it into our tiny dream home.

Dear Ms. Snow, Thank you for this blog. I’ve been quietly following it for a while and I love the pearl metaphor. I looked for a way to contact you directly, but didn’t see that as an option, so I apologize for barging in on this page. I am writing to see if I might be able to invite you to participate in my master’s thesis/research project? Is there an email address I could send the information? I’m seeking adult adoptees who are willing to discuss with me whether their adoption experience impacts (or impacted, in the case of current parents) his or her decision to start a family (or not) and hope to add to the limited but growing body of research about adult adoptees. I have lots more (formal) information, but I wanted to put out a feeler to see if you might be interested. If you aren’t willing, might you know someone who is? I am looking to interview 12-15 people for this exploratory, qualitative study. Thank you very much for your consideration. 🙂
